Visions of the Electric Poet
::Original Jim Morrison Art by Michele E. Fusco::

Accomplishments:
Of all of my art subjects, The Doors' Jim Morrison is and continues to be the most enlightening, challenging, and spriritually altering to portray. His poetry, his lyric verse, and the poisonous beauty of his persona all combine to create a field of fantastical imagery that changes every time I listen to the music, that urges me to interpret each time I read some of his writings. In doing these drawings and paintings, I have learned to broaden my horizons and truly think "outside the box".
My Morrison artwork has occasionally been criticized for being so fantastical, and interpreting only the beautiful side of Jim; but to the nay-sayers, I submit this: All of my paintings of Jim are inspired by and based upon his own thoughts, writings, poems, and songs. So in a way, the images you see here are coming from Jim himself... I'm just the medium, if you will.
This artwork is the result of concentrating on Jim's energy and aura- and I think these projects represent a good way to remember him: as an artist, a poet, and a dreamer.
This Jim Morrison art, as is the case with all of my artwork, is traditional, tangible art; that is to say, created entirely by hand, not with computer graphics. I sress this because, I have been painting and drawing for over 20 years and have seen the digital imagery craze come on the scene, where now someone can sit with Photoshop for a couple hours and come up with something they print out and call art. It is very important to note the difference between that type of thing, and my type of art, where I have spent weeks, and usually months, painstakingly detailing by hand. Please bear this in mind as you view my Jim Morrison Art Gallery...these creations are definitely a labor of love.
